We are Excited to Share This News!

Desktop Engineering (DE) magazine announced yesterday its winners of the “Change the World Challenge” and 3D Systems machines produced the winning medical devices.

Winners of Rapid Technologies That Will Change the World (from DE’s newsletter, November 10):
First Place: Prosthetics researcher Beth Roscoe and surgeon Dr. Philip Stoddard of Shriners Hospital for Children (Springfield, Mass) for developing a pre-surgical treatment for wide cleft lips and palates in children. Using a series of custom manufactured medical devices designed with Geomagic software and printed on 3D Systems machines, the pair developed a treatment involving a dozen or more appliances that serially mold gums into a more normal position, allowing the palate to grow naturally. The new treatment method minimizes patient discomfort and recovery time.

New ProJet™ MP 3000 previewed in China!

Now even small to medium sized dental labs can benefit from our fast, precise 3D Printing technology to produce dental working models. At the recent DenTech show in Shanghai, China, we previewed the ProJet™ MP 3000 3D Printer, the first economical, compact 3-D Production System that prints dental working models with crisp feature definition at a high build speed. The printer, which is based on 3D Systems’ patented and proprietary Multi-Jet Modeling (MJM) technology, is planned to be introduced the first quarter of 2010.

Ron Tsai from 360 SDM says, "The Projet™ MP 3000 allows me to offer a complete solution to the labs that want a totally digital process for manufacturing. With this machine we can quickly make accurate and consistent models from any open sourced scanner. “
