Vote Now!

The UK’s Guardian newspaper is currently holding their Classroom Innovation awards, a competition in which local schools submit a three minute video to show how they are creatively using technology in the classroom.  Dave White from the Design & Technology Department at Clevedon School submitted a video showing how the school uses our Bits From Bytes RapMan and BFB3000 printers in their curriculum.

On January 11, 2011, the results of the public vote will be announced, and the field will be narrowed down to six finalists (the three most popular entries from each category).  From January 12-15, those six finalists' videos will be showcased on the ASUS display (K29) during the educational technology show BETT 2011, in Olympia, London.  Visitors to the ASUS stand will be asked to select a their favorite for each category from the entries on display, and the winners will be announced on January 15.  In the end, there will only be two prizes:  One for primary schools and one for secondary schools, each receiving £7,500 worth of ASUS computer equipment for their schools!

You can help Clevedon School win by simply emailing the Guardian with "Classroom Innovation awards" in the subject line.  In your email, make sure you clearly state you’re voting for Clevedon School’s 3D Printing video in the secondary school category.  Voting is now open until 5pm on January 7.

More News from EuroMold!

During last week’s 2010 EuroMold exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, we BFBproudly showcased our latest addition, Bits From Bytes.  Hundreds of visitors stopped by to see for themselves the RapMan Kit and BFB 3000 displays.  Our team members were even selling these affordable 3D Printers to users directly from the booth!
Also during the conference, we held our inaugural RapMan Challenge.  The participating universities were tasked to assemble a Bits fromRapMan Challenge Bytes RapMan 3.1 as quickly as possible. The  Challenge, created to benefit local design and engineering programs, resulted in a new benchmark of 13 hours to fully assemble this 3D Printer Kit.  Congratulations goes out to two of the participating universities who finished within minutes of each other:  The teams from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Technische Universitaet Illmenau were awarded RapMan 3D Printer Kits with materials for their schools.
“We are very pleased to recognize these two fine teams for assembling printers that raise the bar in part quality. While not always the case, in a side by side comparison, it was virtually impossible to distinguish the RapMan parts from the parts printed by competitive printers costing over 10 times more,”  said Andy McLaren, Director of Global Sales and Marketing for Bits from Bytes.

3D DesignBar at EuroMold

DesignBar

The 3D DesignBar, a suite of innovative content capture, sharing and printing solutions, was a huge success during EuroMold 2010.  Powered by 3D Systems, and in direct partnership with netfabb, Wacom, Bits from Bytes, Rhino and PicoSCAN, the DesignBar showcased 3D cameras, software applications, analogue to digital converter tools and 3D Printers.  Visitors were able to interact with 3D applications and explore printing options in a friendly, educational environment.
“The 3D DesignBar was a compelling destination for both experienced and new users wishing to take full advantage of our complete range of 3D Printers,” said Cathy Lewis, VP of Global Marketing for 3D Systems.

3D Systems at EuroMold 2010

IMG_0477 During the recent 17th annual EuroMold exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, we had an outstanding exhibit representing our three business pillars: Printers, Parts and Production Systems. The SLA and SLS Production Centers on display were a top draw; so much so that our sales team was able to parlay the demonstration into seDesignBarveral sales of upgrades and numerous “hot” leads during the conference.  To further demonstrate our commitment to democratizing access and accelerating adoption of 3D content-to-print solutions, we hosted an interactive DesignBar featuring the latest creative 3D tools and solutions. This was done in partnership with the exhibit company, Demat.
We proudly presented our entire 3D Printer portfolio, including our IMG_0492new affordable line of Bits from Bytes Printers and Kits.  We also successfully introduced several new 3D Printers at the conference:  The ProJet™ CPX 3000plus, the ProJet™ HD 3000plus, the RapChick Kit  and the first ever crossover 3D Printer,IMG_0485 the ProJet™ 6000, delivering SLA® part performance with  the utility of a 3D  Printer.  With four facilities in Europe and our plans for further expansion into additional European locations, we made certain that customers visiting EuroMold also experienced the full range of 3Dproparts™ global capabilities.  Not only did the 3D Systems’ display generate more traffic and buzz than our competitors, but we also enjoyed the added attraction from the Bits from Bytes and DesignBar booths.
All in all, it was a great show!
